Trackwell FiMS offers a suite of fisheries management systems (search and rescue, resource management, and fisheries control). FiMS suite is used in national, international waters, and inland waters by fisheries authorities, coastguards, and navies for surveillance.

The system provides users with the tools to monitor vessel movements and use the positional data received from the system to analyse the vessels’ behaviour, for both law enforcement and resource management purposes. In almost all cases, Trackwell FiMS provides the entire software, technical maintenance, and user-level support.

Trackwell Fisheries Management System: a suite of solutions

Trackwell FiMS offers a suite of solutions that include VMS (Vessel Monitoring System) software, the ERS (Electronic Reporting System for managing fishing activity data), the eLOG (electronic logbook for on-board catch registration), and the FLUX Engine which translates and standardizes the data into FLUX (Fisheries Language for Universal Exchange) to comply with international regulations. These solutions are powered by Data Analysis Engine that generates powerful insights tailored to the client’s needs for different purposes such as, but not limited to, Safety at Sea, law/quota enforcement, IUU detection and research.

All of this is linked through a powerful task management system that allows users and administrators to have complete traceability of all issues and customized alerts generated by the platform, log of all actions taken by operators, vessel response, manual inputs and modifications, and other variables as defined by the customer.

The FiMS solution includes the following supplementary systems:

Vessel Monitoring System

The system provides users with the tools to monitor vessel movements and use the positional data received from the system to analyze the vessels’ behavior, for both law enforcement and resource management purposes.

In almost all cases, Trackwell FiMS provides the entire software, technical maintenance, and user-level support.

Electronic Report System

Mostly known for managing catch data messages and logbooks, the ERS system can also integrate accumulated catch data reports, and sales reports, and just like the VMS systems it integrates with vessel registry and fishing licenses databases.

When installing an ERS only system the map display and geofence monitoring are also part of the platform interface including positions from catch reports.

Monitoring Engine

This automatic tool, standard for the VMS and ERS modules, enables the authorities to define and customize all kinds of monitoring alerts to auto identify irregular behaviour or deviance from set parameters automatically for purposes of detecting and identifying potential IUU activities and safety at sea events.

The system generates issues to be monitored by a human operator and physical patrolling at sea, optimizing both time and resources and keeping full traceability of the actions taken.

Electronic Logbook

Trackwell eLOG offers a tailored solution for on-board catch registration, being able to adapt to local, regional, or international regulations as needed. This platform its simple and intuitive, and its suitable for all kinds of fishing vessels with both a desktop and a mobile version.

Catch information is automatically transmitted from the vessels and available onshore in real-time. Users are provided with save and secure access to the information through a standard web browser.

FLUX Engine

The Flux engine is a back-end component that translates the messages from all different domains of information into the Fisheries Language for Universal Exchange (FLUX) standard to be shared with related stakeholders through the FLUX network.
